The independant building is built with caracteristic Breton stones, has a slate roof and zinc gutters, and has been entirely renovated and insulated by an official builder. The garage annex scullery has been built in 2006. A new water purifier (assainissement) has been placed in 2004. The house is heated by a geothermic system, cheap and environmentally responsable. Downstairs there is under floor heating; on the first floor there are radiators. There is a logfire (’insert’).

The garden ( 7000 m2) has a flower garden, a meadow, a herb garden and a large vegetable garden. There are wild and cultivated apples, cherries, pears and hazelnut and walnuttrees. There is a medlar tree, some chestnuts and very old oak trees. We drink cider from our own apples, and eat the jams from our own fruit, like raspberries, figs, blackberries, red and white berries, gooseberries and strawberries. The garden is organic. The soil is a very rich clay.

The town of Pleugriffet (1100 inhabitants) has a (very kind) doctor, a baker, 2 bars and a small supermarket. On 12 - 20 km are the larger supermarkets and all facilities like restaurants, saturday market (Josselin), campings, touristic sites, cinemas, golf courses, a large lake with all water sport facilities, sporting facilities, etc. There are 3 hospitals on about 22 km. The medical care in France is of a very high level.

Pleugriffet is situated between the historic towns of Josselin and Pontivy. Vannes, Carnac (more than 3000 menhirs), Lorient and Rennes are whithin 1 hour’s drive. Brittanny boasts of old traditions and the language, the music and the mystic of this region make its culture very special. Follow the traces of King Arthur and Merlin, in the legendary forest of Brocéliande. Enjoy the wonderful nature and the ancient, mysterious forests, hay fields and swamps. The coast is rough and varied and there are many lovely villages and towns. And: no traffic jams!
