The gîte is in a peaceful area with a large private terrace and barbeque on the Black Mountain. It comes fully equipped with all modern appliances but is also tastefully decorated with antiques. From your private terrace you can walk into beautiful Mediterranean garden with a child-friendly swmimming pool. There is also a 5000m cherry orchard. There are 2 play areas with a billiards table and many other games.
Exterior
The village of Caunes Minervois lies at the foot of the Black Mountain in the Minervois wine belt midway between the Mediterranean see and the Pyrenees. The famous city of Carcassone, and the UNESCO classes Canal du Midi, are 20km away. Our estate lies on the outskirts of a typical medieval village beautifully constructed in the Gothic and Renaissance eras.
Things to do locally
Carcassone has an airport. There is a great golf course 20km in Carcassone. Our village has two tennis courts. The countryside is lovely to walk in, and it is an easy climb up the Black Mountain. Surfing is on offer 20km away. The region is also renown for being the home to the Cathar knights in the 13th century.

In our gîte you find yourself in the heartland of the wine producing area of Minervois. There are many wine producing castle estates around, and, for the gourmets, many fine restaurants in the area.
Other remarks
Caunes Minervois has 2 restaurants, 2 cafes and many different shops including a small supermarket, a good baker, butcher and three weekly markets with diverse products. The gîte is for rent from Saturday to Saturday. Outside of July and August it is possible to arrange hire for different days. Reservations should be confirmed with a payment of 30% of the total, and a rental contract will be made. There are special prices for June according to the number of people who come.
