Our holiday home ’le bois’
In one building of our former farm ’le moulin de palbas’ we have installed our cottage ’le bois’. On the ground floor it has a spacious kitchen (25m²), with a dish washer, a gas cooker with two electrical ovens, a micro-wave and a big fridge/freezer; a living/dining area (35m²) with a fireplace, stereo set and television. There is also a big dining/playing area of 50m².
On the first floor there are three bedrooms, one of which is en-suite:
- one en-suite bedroom in French style, all in wood and pink. Two bedrooms (35m²) separated by a bathroom. One double bed per bedroom, enough space for four.
- the double bedroom in Japanese style, with raw wood and black and red lacquered furniture, it has a very ’zen’ view of the pear tree and the lake. It has a double ’futon’ bed.
- our Moroccan bedroom is a very spacious family room in L form on two levels (50m²), sleeps 6. It is a very colorful room with pots, cushions and draperies from North Africa. It has two double beds and two single beds.
Each room has mosquito netting at the windows, a fan, its own shower room and toilet and a private entrance, and a view of the lake and the woods. On the ground floor a washing machine, iron and ironing board are available to our guests.
Outside you will enjoy the pool (10x5), the terrace, the table tennis and table football and the playground; a vegetable garden and fruit trees await you with their fresh products, depending on the season. Do bring your pets, they’ll enjoy being on holiday as well! Of course, if you come with a company of 4 or 16, you will always be the only group in the cottage at any one time.

Exterior
’Le Moulin de Palbas’ lies at 5 kms from the center of a village of 500 souls, Pruniers, in the heart of the Berry region, 250 kms South of Paris, in the Indre. The Berry region is rich in history (’les Ducs de Berry) and culture, but has not been discovered by tourists yet. The rivers Cher and Indre flow quietly, the landscape is hilly with meadows and forest.
Things to do locally
The nearby forest and the country roads invite you to long or short walks (several villages have set out walks going from 5 to 40 kms) and bike-tours, or trips on horseback. Do bring your pet, if it’s a cat, dog or horse: they will love it here too! In the after-season the weather is usually still warm and nice in this region, and you won’t be able to resist gathering mushrooms. Even in winter does nature spoil us, it’s beautiful here!
If you come to stay here in summer, you will enjoy our pool (outdoor; 10m*5m), go fishing our watch birds. The kids will be having fun in the playground, playing table football or table tennis while you enjoy your drink on the terrace. In the nearby village you can play tennis, there are several itineraries in the neighbourhood.
Golf
For golf-fans on every level this region is truly paradise: you will find three golf courses within 40 km from here and a fourth just a bit further away, south of Bourges - that should be enough to organise a friendly competition! Les Sarrays is at 15 km from here, Les Dryades at 35 km, the Golf du Val de l’Indre op 40 km. Each course has its own characteristics but but they have several advantages in common: they are created in the countryside, with lots of space, the prices are more than reasonable and they are never crowded - so nothing to stop you from spending some quality time there!
Culture
If you prefer cultural activities, you won’t be disappointed either: two of the most picturesque villages in France are to be found in the Indre region. Interesting daytrips - for all ages - can be made to the Loire chateaux and their famous vineyards, the Noirlac Abbey, the ’Vallée Noire’ and the house of George Sand in Nohant, the 13th century water mill in Angibault, the gardens in Orsan, the romantic music weeks and the festival of traditional music, the Futuroscope, the Palace Jacques Coeur and the cathedral in Bourges, the Parc Naturel de la Brenne and the Parc Animalier de la Haute Touche, France’s biggest outdoor zoological garden. In addition to all that a number of events are organised from spring through autumn: music festivals, village festivals, markets and flea markets... organised to enrich life in the countryside with interesting encounters.

Our gîte is available from three consecutive nights onwards, there is no fixed day of arrival! In July and August only per week.
