The decoration of the house is new, cozy and comfortable. The living space is splendid with high beamed ceilings and a large sliding doors to the terrace with wide views on the garden and the castle nearby. The holiday home is a one story house and is fully equipped with all the necessary for a comfortable stay.
Exterior
The imposing Castle with its large grounds in the picturesque and authentic village of “Mariol” has a, with our house shared, terrain with swimming pool and children’s play area. With the best baker around the corner and “Vichy” with its thermal baths and shops, “Puy de Dome” with its parasailing and walking lays our house in the middle of many cultural and natural monuments. If you have specific questions about your holidays: mail me and I will be happy to provide suggestions: liesbeth@hotmail.com. In the gîte you will also find a lot of tourist information.
Things to do locally
“Auvergne” seems a forgotten area: very often used to travel through to reach other places. That is the reason why and tranquility and authenticity of the countryside and everything you wish for is still found here on perhaps a smaller scale.
You can find several activities such as canoeing, parasailing, cross-country skiing, horseback riding, endless walks, but also shopping and the modern thermal baths.
Theme parks, picturesque villages, visits to castles, you name it and it is there.
The “Auvergne” will offer you tranquility without being bored, no noise from roads or airports and everyone still polite and friendly. Time, nature, good food, enough activities and an atmosphere of old times almost forgotten might just be what you expect from your holidays.
Following activities possible nearby (max 30 minutes by car)
You can find good food throughout the region and there are several “Star” restaurants ( see Guide Michelin). Famous for its cheeses it is well worth to follow the “Route de Fromage”. The fine “St. Nectaire” cheese is made from the milk of one herd of cows in this region only. The famous “Fourme d’Ambert” is delicious and the local bakers still bake their own specialized breads…Where do you find this still?

I have not marked water sports or skiing, but on a small scale these activities are practiced in the region in a quiet way without the tourist masses. In the unspoiled landscape you can enjoy the not too warm summers from May to October, although in August temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius are reached.
Close to the house there are 2 natural swimming areas with pick-nick and playing possibilities and terraces for a drink etc. In short, all is to be found in this, according to the Dutch ANWB-holiday guides, most romantic country side of France.
