Le Cledier is a charming 18th Century tower shaped chestnut house. It is surrounded by grounds of two acres with stunning views of open countryside/chestnut forests and a lake. It is detached from the main house and has it’s own totally private area with garden furniture for your personal use. You are also lucky enough to have walking/horse riding/cycling routes at the end of the drive. At night time, experience the clearest starry nights you can imagine and listen to the owls in the nearby forest. The accommodation is most suitable for two adults and pets are welcome to spend your holiday with you by prior arrangement.

| La Chapelle Montbrandeix is a pretty village situated in the heart of what is referred to as “Hidden France” in the Limousin/Perigord national park bordering the regions of the Charente and the Dordogne. The region is rich with lush chestnut forests, rolling hills (dotted with the famous chestnut Limousin cows) and numerous stunning lakes, many of which are suitable for sunbathing and swimming, watersports, and fishing. Here you will find yourself in the real, unspoiled French countryside far away from mass tourism but with many attractions. You could be a million miles from anywhere with beautiful views and yet being on the edge of the village, you have the advantage of having a shop, post office and restaurant/bar on your doorstep. You are also within only a few kilometres of other larger towns with more restaurants, supermarkets and markets. You will find it hard to tear yourself away at the end of your holiday!

The area is known for its chateaux and historical places of interest including caves with prehistoric cave paintings. There is also swimming, fishing, canoeing and windsurfing in the many leisure lakes and rivers, as well as an international golf course and horse riding facilities nearby. There are also numerous walking and cycling routes for both short rambles for beginners and much longer walks/cycle routes for the enthusiast.
La Chapelle Montbrandeix is also situated along the route of Richard the Lionheart which is dotted with numerous chateaux to visit, three of which are within cycling distance and one of which (Montbron) has a lovely restaurant which overlooks the chateau and has jazz or theme nights every Friday.
The closest large city is Limoges which is the capital of the Haute Vienne and also the city of porcelain. The butchers quarter of Limoges is stunning with half timbered medieval buildings and fantastic restaurants. It also has an old fashioned covered market which sells anything from home produce to bric a brac. It also has an antiques market on a Sunday. For the golfers amongst you, there is an international golf course here too.
Other towns/cities/villages that you really should not miss and that are within close proximity are Brantome (the Venice of the Perigord), Bordeilles (you can canoe from Brantome to Bordeilles!) and Perigueux characterized by medieval winding streets and buildings.
