In first floor grenier/loft : mezzanine bedroom leading to spacious (6mx3m - but with some low beams) main double bedroom with French windows with views across countryside towards the Gironde estuary (and the sunsets !).
Large all-weather garden room/terrace (with space heater) with use of 11mx5m swimming pool (May-September) and an acre of garden with boules pit. Full electric heating throughout (when needed !).
2 additional people can be accommodated in the mezzanine bedroom (at an additional charge), if you wish to bring some friends with you. Since access to the main bedroom is through the mezzanine, privacy screens are provided if you’re shy ! Or there’s a double sofa-bed/futon in the living room if your friends prefer total privacy !

Situated in a small hamlet of about 12 houses and a farm. Just 10 mins from Junction 37 of A10 motorway and 4 mins by car from nearest shops, bank etc at Mirambeau.
The location offers the best of both worlds : deep in the countryside surrounded by vineyards and sunflowers (depending on season) but within 10 mins of the Gironde estuary and quiet marinas and 30 mins of a nice beach at Mescher, just outside Royan.
There are lots of quiet lovely local places to visit but there is also easy access to the life of Bordeaux, La Rochelle or even onwards to Biarritz, Toulouse and Montpelier, or to Spain including Barcelona and Sitges.

Many interesting places to visit and things to do (if/when you tire of just lying around the pool during the summer !!), including sleepy villages and livelier towns, beaches, chateaux/wine tasting, nature reserves, outside activities (for those into them !) including fishing, horse riding, walking and bird watching - or just sitting outside bars watching the world go by !

Surrounded by many wine producing Chateau, and many restaurants are within 15-30 minutes drive - although none are within walking distance.
A complimentary welcome pack will be waiting for your arrival, with provisions for an evening snack and breakfast and with refreshments - including a chilled bottle of champagne for you to celebrate the start of your holiday !

Whilst the gîte adjoins the house of owners Christopher and Martin, the accommodation is completely self contained and the terrace is divided from the owners’ terrace, offering privacy.
The gîte is well equipped with heating with a Godin log burner in the living room and new wall mounted electric radiators and convector heaters in all other rooms - including modern ”chaleur douce” radiators for gentle and controllable background warmth, comparable to central heating.
The owners are ashamed to say that some of the internal doors, even on the ground floor, are too narrow for wheelchairs to get through. Otherwise, the ground floor facilities are quite accessible for people with mobility difficulties.
The owners want you to have a great holiday, treating the gîte and grounds as if they were your home, and to be able to relax and feel comfortable. So they have just 3 ”Comfort Guidelines” :
* children can be wonderful, but the gîte is not suitable for children under 14. Also, use of the pool is at your own risk !
* no more than one (very well behaved) dog please. This isn’t just in our interests, but also those of our neighbours who have animals (pets and working)
* and finally ... please only book the gîte if you feel comfortable with the idea of hiring a gîte from a same sex couple ! In the jargon : ”gay friendly” people only please !
