| La Chaumier is a small farmstead dating from 1780 which has been recently and completely restored. Many of the original features of the house have been retained resulting in a special feeling of authenticity. On entering the house from the veranda one arrives in an atmospheric sitting room with an open fire. Another door leads to a bedroom with two single beds beyond which there is a bathroom with toilet, washbasin and a bath. Across the hall there is a second bathroom also equipped with a toilet, washbasin and shower. Here too are two more twin-bedded bedrooms. The dinning and well-equipped kitchen area can be reached from the staircase in the living room. One can also exit the house from here onto the terrace.

| La Chaumiere is located on a hill in an area of outstanding natural beauty with fantastic views over a landscape of cornfields, sunflowers and pastures. Many of the local towns date from the middle-ages such as picturesque Montcuq with its delicious restaurants, terraces and traditional shops. There is also a large supermarket here. The town of Tournon offers a fine example of one of the many bastide towns in the region upon the hilltops. Nearby Cahors is an old Roman settlement which straddles the River Lot and is best know for its wine, foie gras, sunny climate and its peaceful and friendly people.

| Very close to Montcuq is a beautiful lake with a beach where you can swim. Montcuq is also situated on the Santiago de Compostella pilgramage route and from May it is possible to see many pilgrims populating the terraces. As a result there are many footpaths in the region. On the river Lot there are canoe hire locations and pleasure boats for rent. There are also mountain bikes for hire to explore the many lanes and pathways. Many riding stables nearby also offer hacks in the beautiful countryside.

The guests who come back every year are the ones who are most impressed by the extremely peaceful and beautiful landscape. There is no mass tourism here, only ’old France’. The sun shines on cosy town squares where local men play boules and the women chat under the shade of the chestnut trees. Every day is market day. Local farmers bring their vegetables, fruit and other edible goods. The high seasons lasts from June 28th to August the 30th. The mid-season runs from May to June and from the end of August to the end of September.
