This 120 year old farm house is part of the domaine Fontachoulet and has all the luxury you need. Our guests have one half of the farmhouse at their disposal. As the farm house is well-heated with open fireplace and central heating, it is an ideal place to stay, also in winter, whether you come as a family or 50-plus, looking for peace and quiet. The farm has a large full-fitted kitchen with dining table, large living room with dining area, French doors leading to a terrace from where you have a view over the domain which is entirely yours during your holiday. Outside you’ll find a barbecue, fire basket, hammock, pick nick table and in the shelter of the large hazelnut tree, a large dining table with 8 chairs. There is also a kart and a children’s bike.
Ground floor (former stable): dining and living room, kitchen, loo with was basin and washing area (washing machine and dryer). First floor (former hay attic) 2 double rooms with double beds each. 1 room for 4, with a double bed and two single beds. There is also a cot in this room. Shower room with shower, wash basin and loo. During the summer there is a swimming pool (crosscut 5 m) of 130 cm deep.
Exterior
Fontachoulet is a domain of 25 000 m, of which 7000m2 park and 18000 m2 natural gardens, which are completely at your disposal. In the orchard you’ll find a swing and a tree hut for children. Make a fire and have a pick nick in the gardens, or have a nap in the double hammock. The property is completely fenced, so your children are safe here. Fontchoulet is in the nature park ’naturel région Périgord-Limousin’ in the north of the Dordogne region. The farmhouse is surrounded by hills, forests, lakes and rivers. An ideal spot for those who seek peace and quiet and a break from daily stress.
Things to do locally
There are several indicated walks here, some of which pass the domain. In the near surroundings there are possibilities for fishing, cycling, mountain biking, kart, riding, water sports, boules, tennis, canoeing. In Limoges and Périgueux there are golf courses. This region is an ideal base from which you can explore the lovely green part of the Dordogne region. The route of Richard Lion heart leads you to the many beautiful castles, the caves of Villars and the mediaeval towns and villages with their markets. For antique lovers there are brocantes and trocadores to visit. To the south you will find the wine region (90 minutes by car) with cities like Bergerac, Cahors and St Emilion. The larger cities Limoges and Périgueux (50 km) are worth a visit. In La Coquille, a village at 7 km there is the nearest Office du Tourisme.
