Our characteristic gîte is comfortable, furnished in a modern country style and has all possible amenities. It is an English Heritage house with an oak frame and covered both inside and out with wooden panelling in a warm colour scheme. The ground floor has a large living with open kitchen and a bathroom with two washbasins, shower and toilet. The French doors open out onto the terrace with teak table, chairs and benches. The first floor has a landing with access to two bedrooms which both have beautiful oak beamed ceilings
Exterior
The gîte lies east of Bergerac, just outside the village of Cause de Clerans. From the main road you turn into a wooded country lane which after approximately 1,5 miles takes you to our gîte, which is set in very peaceful surroudings. You will arrive in a magnificent setting on the edge of the woods in a beautiful valley where the river Serouze flows through our property of 13 acres. The gîte itself sits 100 yards next to our own stone built house where we live all year round with our small daughter, the horses, dogs and cats.
Things to do locally
The area provides numerous possibilities for walking, cycling, horseback riding, golf (at the Chateau Les Merles) and within easy driving distance several medieval towns. Nearby (6 miles) the river Dordogne runs through the attractive town of Lalinde where you can also do your day to day shopping

In the area you will find several restaurants and can visit impressive wine ”chateauxs”. You can also enjoy the typical ”Perigord” kitchen particularly renowned for its gooseliver pate, duck, truffles, fresh trout, walnuts and various fruits of the season. Together with a glass of the local wine such as Pecharmant, Monbazillac or of course St. Emillion it makes for a gastronomic paradise.
Other remarks
The gîte has a total surface of 900 square feet, has its own terraces both in the front and the rear of the house. Bed sheets, blankets, towels and kitchen linen are in the gîte. Everywhere you can enjoy the outstanding views and of course you can make use of the swimming pool (15 x 27 feet)with sun beds, sunshades and towels. Prices are per week and at the moment of reservation a guarantee of 50% of the total rentalamount is required. The remaining 50% should be paid upon arrival. Cleaning costs are € 50,00 and rental periods start on Saturdays from 1.00 p.m. onwards unless otherwise agreed upon in advance with the owner.
