Restaurants, foods & wine
The region is well known for its gourmet cuisine. Famous local delicious dishes such as Magret de Canard (duck breast), Confit de Canard (duck leg and wing), Foie Gras (duck liver pate) and Agen prunes come highly recommended and are eagerly sought after by gourmands. This area is also famous throughout France for its fish dishes. Trout and lobster are regularly found on menus in many of the small restaurants scattered around the area with delicious dishes. On average a three course menu of a starter, main course and desert will cost around 15 euros a head. Many famous wines also come from this region. The red wines are renown for their soft and velvety flavour. For those who prefer a more sturdy wine, we can recommend some of the Cahors wine from the north of the region.
