Interior
The characteristic old school has been completely renovated in 2003 and is situated at the highest point of the village Troche, in the middle of the beautiful landscapes of the Correze. The house itself has a rough but romantic sphere. At arrival it is directly evident that this is not just a holiday home but a unique house for a fascinating stay. Completely secluded from the outside world this is a place where you can come to complete rest, whilst enjoying modern day comforts. The enormous living of 720 sq. feet is split into a kitchen part ant a living room part. It has floor heating, floor spot lighting, satellite TV, audio installation and an Internet connection to enable you to bring your own laptop to internet at leisure. There is a large wooden table which can seat 12 people and in the same area there is the island kitchen with electric oven, dishwasher, gas hob, and a large refrigerator with freeze unit. There also is a large toilet downstairs and the entrance to the cellar.
On the second floor there are the bedrooms and bathrooms. In the four main bedrooms there are two boxspring beds and mattresses. In the fourth room is a baby bed. Each room has heating and a washbasin. There are two bathrooms; one attached to the masterbedroom with a twinbath. The second bathroom is next to the other bedrooms and has a twin shower. There are additional toilets on the first floor. The house has an oil fired central heating which also provides the hot water supply. Washing machine and dryer are in the cellar.
The large but cosy garden offers complete privacy and some wonderful views. It is surrounded by trees and hedges. In the garden there is a large covered terrace which has lighting and garden furniture is available for 8 people.
Exterior
Situated on the highest hill in hilly surroundings in the village of Troche and close to the water tower you will find this majestic house in its delightful garden. The house boasts a clock tower and the figure of Maria on the frontage. It is not a “standard” house by any means but offers all the comfort you could wish for during your stay.
Things to do locally
Uzerche (10miles) offers canoeing, mini-golf, tennis, swimming pool, cinema and tourist attractions such as mountain biking and archery. There is an 11th century church of St Vigeois (6 miles), a lake with swimming pool (Lac de Pontcharal), fishing, a bicycle route (Treignac) of 20 miles and a large dam lake where you can rent sail boats at Seilhac. At 18 miles there is the Lac de Bournazel where you can enjoy various types of water sport and a beach. Tulle (18 miles) has a cathedral, sports museums and there are various artists villages near it. Limoges (45 miles) is well-known for its porcelain. A town which attracts many tourists is Brive (25 miles) with its colourful architecture and sports. Pompadour (5 miles) is known for its castle, the horse racing and stables. The 15th century village of Rocamadour built on the rocks of Collonges-la-Rouge is also known as the red village due to the colour of the red sandstone. With a car everything is easily accessible!

In Troche at a 3 minute walking distance from the house there is a baker and a postall office. In Pompadour (at 5 miles) there are numerous shops and facilities. Besides a supermarket and petrol station there is a pleasant town square with cafes, a castle and an excellent “traiteur” who can supply ready made food and meals including several of the areas specialties (such as rillettes, truffles, sausages, foie gras etc).
Other remarks
The house is an old Catholic girls school and there was also a small chapel. For tens of years girls from the area received lessons there run by several nuns who lived on the first floor.
